Different Types Of Leukemia

Different Types Of Leukemia ImageLeukemia is a cancer that occurs at the level of the spinal marrow. In the spinal marrow a kind of immature blood cells called stem cells. These cells have a first neutral state and then turn into different types of blood cells, white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets. Leukemia disrupts the normal process of cell maturation, leading to an accumulation of partially developed cells in the bone marrow, blood, and later in the organs of the body. Most of these cells in the body can result in inefficient, because they can not perform the activity of normal blood cells.

Depending on the speed of development known many different types of leukemia, acute leukemia (quickly developing), leukemia, or chronic (slowly developing).

In particular, acute leukemia is the inability of stem cells (immature cells found in bone marrow) in the state to reach adulthood. These immature cells tend to divide continuously and accumulate in the bloodstream. Acute leukemia develops rapidly, and need immediate treatment and specific therapy. If being neglected, an acute leukemia can causes the patient’s death within a few months. While certain forms of acute leukemia is usually treated successfully, others do not respond well to specific treatment.

A feature of the chronic form of leukemia, the malignant cells are not usually develop more mature cells, but in most cases normal. Leukemic cells have long life and tend to be in the bloodstream. While normal people has 5000-10000 white blood cells in the body, people with chronic leukemia more than 100,000.

Lymphocytic and myeloid forms have developed different types of cells: lymphoid leukemia arises from cells called lymphoblast or lymphocytes in the spongy tissue of bone, while myeloid leukemia (sometimes referred to as myeloid leukemia myelocytic) develops from myeloid cells.
