Leukemia is a cancer that occurs at the level of the spinal marrow. In the spinal marrow a kind of immature blood cells called stem cells. These cells have a first neutral state and then turn into different types of blood cells, white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets. Leukemia disrupts the normal process of cell maturation, leading to an accumulation of partially developed cells in the bone marrow, blood, and later in the organs of the body. Most of these cells in the body can result in inefficient, because they can not perform the activity of normal blood cells.
