Protein Needed by Our Body
Proteins are complex organic compounds which are polymers of amino acid monomers linked to each other by peptide bonds. The content of protein molecules are hydrogen, carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, sulfur and phosphorus. Proteins play an important role in the structure and function of all living cells.
Proteins are formed from amino acids linked to each other. There are two types of amino acids, namely: essential amino acids, is an amino acid which not been manufactured by the body and non-essential amino acid, is an amino acid which can be produced by our bodies. Proteins are composed of essential amino acids can be said as complete proteins. Complete proteins can be derived from other sources such as eggs, meat, cheese, milk, soy and others. Whereas incomplete proteins come from all kinds of vegetables except soy.
Protein is needed by our body. Not just bodybuilders who need protein to increase their muscle mass, but protein also needed by the sick to rebuild damaged tissue as well and even our bodies use protein to perform our tasks everyday.
Ideally we should consume a complete protein, but if you’re concerned about fat content, try to reduce the consumption of chicken, beef and turkey. For the vegetarians who consume protein incomplete, can meet the protein needs of a variety of vegetables and grains to ensure that all essential amino acids consumed already are complete. In addition, you can also consume protein from soy, which is complete vegetable source.
