The Importance of Repetition for Muscle Building
Repetition is the cornerstone of all strength or muscle building program, but it is something that many athletes take for granted. How many times have you seen the people at the gym speed through their representatives, not breathing at random or complete each repetition correctly from a technical point of view? There is more to the simple repetition of what appears.
The first thing to note is that a repeat is composed of three elements – namely lower, pause and lift. The speed with which this is achieved depends on the desired result, but to maximize muscle growth a slow and controlled is needed. The process should not be rushed, jerky or jumping, but must be controlled and smooth.
The second consideration is the number of repetitions that are performed. Again, it depends on what you achieve with it, but you can use the following rule of thumb:
- A single repetition maximum (1 RM) increases muscle strength.
- A six to eight repetitions maximum muscle mass increases.
- A larger number of repetitions have more influence on muscle endurance and little impact on the size or strength.
It takes more muscle building potential, provided that each lift with perfect form in a controlled manner without any problems.
